Do Humana Individual, Family, Group Employee and Federal Employee Plans Cover Dental Implants?
Humana offers health insurance to federal employees and retirees, and a Humana dental plan for federal workers includes coverage of dental implants as part of its prosthetics benefits. Surgical implants are covered once per tooth over a plan member’s lifetime, and additional benefits are available for implant removals, repairs, cleanings and other related services.
Humana is among the leaders of workplace insurance providers, and the company’s group dental plans provide coverage for major services like crowns, bridges, dentures and more. However, dental implants are not mentioned in the Humana group dental insurance information we reviewed.
It appears unlikely that Humana individual and family dental insurance plans cover dental implants.
The Humana Complete Dental plan in North Carolina lists “Any type of implant and all related services, including crowns or the prosthetic device attached to it” as a service that the plan doesn’t cover. The same goes for the Loyalty Plus plan in California. It’s important to note that these are simply examples, and there may be Humana plan options available where you live that cover more than what these example plans cover.
